Hospice of the Good Shepherd, Cheshire
Project details
Jones Melling was approached by the client to assist the project team as the quantity surveyors for the project.
The project comprised a four-bedroom extension, a new café, day care and ancillary staff resources for the existing care centre.
The scheme included substantial groundworks to facilitate the construction and included use of sustainable and innovative technology to reduce the ongoing running costs of the building.
As the project was an extension of a listed building, careful consideration had to be given to the preservation of the existing property as part of the extension and refurbishment works.
The most challenging part of the project was sensitively handling a well-coordinated delivery programme between the contractor and the client as the works were being conducted while the existing facilities were in use, including palliative care services, outpatients and day care.
