Haydock Commercial Vehicles, Preston
Project details
After a successful working relationship with Haydock Commercial Vehicles, to find a new site for its flagship head office in Cheshire, and then managing the construction process, Jones Melling was reappointed by Haydock as employer’s agent for its £2.7m development in Preston.
The project involved the construction of a purpose-built, state-of-the-art Scania service centre on 2.5 acres of prime commercial land adjacent to its existing Walton Summit site in Preston. The old workshop at the site was then demolished to further extend the centre’s secure truck, trailer, bus and coach parking area.
We acted as Employer’s Agent on behalf of the Haydock Commercial Vehicles ensuring the scheme was appropriately administered and to ensure the successful delivery of the scheme.
The construction of the new build had to be carefully managed whilst maintaining a live workshop on the same site, with careful consideration to minimise construction traffic and maintain safe and accessible customer car parking.
The completed new service centre features seven 28-metre workshop bays with three 22-metre pits and door heights of five-metres allowing access for trailers and double-deck buses. The centre is also equipped with the latest tools and technology in vehicle servicing.
